
TISD’s Morriss Elementary Earns Elite U.S. News ‘Best Schools’ Ranking
Fantastic news for Texarkana as once again it takes center stage in the state of Texas. Texarkana ISD is proud to announce yet another major milestone as Martha and Josh Morriss Mathematics & Engineering Elementary has earned top distinctions in the 2026 U.S. News & World Report Best Schools rankings.

Morriss Elementary continues to shine as one of Texas’s top-performing schools, standing out as one of the Best Elementary Schools in the state. What makes the achievement even more impressive is that many of the schools ranked higher are specialized gifted-and-talented academies located in major metropolitan areas. This is proof that excellence is thriving right here in Texarkana.
A Texarkana Elementary Focus on Literacy and Innovation
Among all its accomplishments, Morriss has earned the number 3 ranking in the state for reading performance, reflecting the school’s commitment to literacy and instructional excellence.
