Dozens of New Fishing Hotspots Added to Lake Ouachita in Arkansas
Good news for anglers! Fishing just got better at Lake Ouachita, Arkansas's largest lake, thanks to the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission and the Army Corps of Engineers.
Dozens of New Fish Attractor Sites Installed on Lake Ouachita Near Hot Springs
According to Fox16, dozens of new fish attractor sites were installed after removing and clearing invasive cedars from the shoreline to create habitat and not to interfere with lake navigation. Cedars were used because they provide excellent fish habitat with their natural cover of branches and twigs.
The project was done in December and took several barges and 35 people to complete the mission. AGFC officials say most of the work was accomplished when the lake was drawn down to about 8 feet, which means most of the brushpiles will sit in the 20- to 25-foot range during most of the year.

What Kind of Fish Can You Find on Lake Ouachita?
Lake Ouachita, known for walleye, bass, crappie, bluegill, and catfish, is a great fishing spot for anglers as the brushpiles attract fish year-round. Most of all, the new fishing sites are located near the mid-lake islands and the main lake points between Island markers 28 and 36.

Anglers can get GPS coordinates for all placed fish attractors at the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission website here. Anglers can also download coordinates right to their fishfinders via the AGFC for approximately 76 lakes in Arkansas.
