New Year’s Eve According to Uber: Where Did We Go?
Using data from Uber, we can determine where did people go and even what they ate on New Year's Eve.
Ride sharing is definitely a huge trend, despite its irony. I mean, we were told as kids to never get in a car with a stranger and now here we are telling them exactly where we are and where we are going. Don't think for a second that I'm knocking the platform... I love it and use it often!
Besides getting us home safely, Uber can also tell us what Americans did for New Year's Eve.
Using data from the ride sharing app, PopSugar.com put together a list of the Most Popular Uber Destinations in the US the night we rang in the new year. There were six places that saw the most Uber drop-offs on December 31 across the nation. These may not be the places that saw the most people (Times Square in NYC was obviously packed), but it does show us where many people were being dropped off.
Here are the Top 3:
1. Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta
2. Gaylord National Resort and Convention Center in Washington DC
3. Navy Pier in Chicago.
You can see the entire list here.
Also, thanks to Uber Eats, we know what people were eating that night. Uber Eats is an app you can download on your phone that allows you to order food from a number of restaurants in your area and have them deliver the food right to your door. The most popular food ordered was pizza, specifically from And Pizza in Georgetown. People opted for the "craft your own pizza" option, because who isn't extra on NYE?
