Good Thursday-Here are some stories making headlines today:
A  large crowd was on hand yesterday morning for the groundbreaking ceremonies at the soon to be constructed Hilton Gardens Hotel and Texarkana Convention Center on the Texas side of town.

Local business leaders and elected officials spoke before the ceremonial ground breaking at the location which is located just east of Central Mall on Cowhorn Creek and just north of Kennedy Lane.  The idea of a hotel/convention center has been in the works for years and is now ready for construction. The local Daugherty Group along with the city says the ball room which is being built with Texarkana's needs in mind will hold around 1,000 thousand people at a time. Construction will begin soon and should be complete in around 15 months weather permitting making a Summer or early fall 2012 grand opening expected.
