Help is on the way for Northeast Texans recovering from recent tornadoes and severe storms. Governor Greg Abbott announced on Wednesday, April 23, that the US Small Business Administration (SBA) has approved a disaster declaration for several Texas counties hit hard earlier this month.

Residents and business owners in Bowie, Camp, Cass, Marion, Morris, Red River, Titus, and Upshur counties can now apply for low-interest federal disaster loans to help rebuild homes, businesses, and replace damaged property.

“The State of Texas continues working to make sure folks have the support they need to recover,” said Governor Abbott. “These SBA loans will help people get back on their feet and begin rebuilding.”

The SBA is offering three types of loans:

  • Home Disaster Loans for homeowners and renters
  • Business Physical Disaster Loans
  • Economic Injury Disaster Loans (EIDL) for small businesses

Texans affected by these storms can apply online at sba.gov/disaster, call (800) 659-2955, or email disastercustomerservice@sba.gov for help. Telecom relay services are available by dialing 7-1-1.

In-person assistance will also be available starting tomorrow, Thursday, April 24, at 11 AM at the Morris County Collaborative, located at 200 Jefferson Street in Daingerfield. The center will be open weekdays from 8 AM to 5 PM.

This declaration follows coordinated efforts by state and local officials to assess damage and push for federal help.
