Four-Way Stop Coming to Texarkana PG Intersection Monday Night
Drivers in the Pleasant Grove area will need to get used to a new traffic pattern beginning Monday night. It's not a huge change, but adding a stop sign to a street when you're not used to it can really throw you off. So, heads-up, let's pay attention out there.
Four-Way Stop Conversion Begins Tonight
The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) says the intersection of FM 2878 (Pleasant Grove Road) and Gibson Lane in Texarkana will become a four-way stop starting the evening of Monday, July 27.
Until now, only traffic on Gibson Lane was required to stop. Beginning after 8 PM Monday, motorists traveling on Pleasant Grove Road will also be required to stop before entering the intersection.
Safety Improvements Planned at Pleasant Grove and Gibson
TxDOT crews will install new stop signs, pavement markings, and warning signs on Pleasant Grove Road. The agency says stop signs on Pleasant Grove Road have been doubled to improve visibility, and "Stop Ahead" warning signs will be posted in both directions. Portable message boards are already in place to alert drivers about the upcoming change.
Drivers Urged to Use Extra Caution During Transition
Motorists are urged to use extra caution Monday night while crews are working and in the days that follow as drivers adjust to the new four-way stop.
