Raise a Glass This Weekend with Arkansas’ Signature Cocktail
If you're going out, why not have a taste of Arkansas in your hand!
The weekend is upon us! For many of us that means heading out for date night, with friends or for a G.N.O. (girls night out). This sometimes includes adult beverages. Why not switch up your usual and order something that is truly Arkansas.
Well, at least according to Paste Magazine.
A few years ago they posted a list of "50 State and 51 Cocktails" which named a signature cocktail for each state. Many of these incorporate liquors that the state is known for making or even flavors that are reminiscent of the area. It's like partying with the state itself.
Kinda.
For Arkansas, that means we're sipping on Arkansas Buttermilk. Yep... You read that right. Many would argue that the unofficial state cocktail is the Arkansas Razorback, but Paste Magazine decided to switch things up. For what it's worth, no actual buttermilk is used in this. It's made with "pineapple juice, orange juice, grapefruit juice, lemon juice, grenadine syrup, vodka and bouborn." I got a little buzz just reading that.
The magazine says it's not for the faint of heart...
If you're wondering about Texas, their unofficial cocktail is the Texas Pecan. This combines "pecan pie vodka, Kahlua, and milk." They also use smoked ice cubes. Who knew these existed? And how delicious does that pecan pie vodka sound?!
