Michelle Whitman, a Pre-Kindergarten Teacher from Redwater Elementary School, who is in her 19th year of teaching, six with RISD. Whitman holds a Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood from Southern Nazarene University and a Master of Science in Education from Walden University.

Casey Pitman, with Redwater Intermediate School, currently serves as a 6th Grade Reading and Language Arts Teacher. He also serves as the Spelling Bee Coordinator and UIL Chess Coach. Pitman is in his 16th year of teaching and has been with RISD for 11 years. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and a Juris Doctorate from the University of Arkansas.

She is in her 37th year of teaching with nine years at RISD as an English Language Arts and Reading Teacher.

Austin State University and teaches Family and Consumer Sciences. Additionally, Davis serves as the Career and Technology Education Department Chair and Advisor for the Family Career and Community Leaders of America and Texas Association of Future Educators. District

Teachers of the Year are Michelle Whitman (Elementary) and Casey Pitman (Secondary). Both will move forward for consideration as Region VIII Teacher of the Year.
