A ton of people in our area run to Shreveport for the day or weekend to shop, see concerts or go to the casinos. There are some things you should know before you head that way.

Lousiana's Mask Mandate

First of all the governor of Lousiana John Edwards has temporarily reinstated the mask mandate indoors for all people ages five and older starting Wednesday, August 4 until September 1. At that time they will reevaluate the situation. So if you are heading that way be sure to pack a face mask even if you've been vaccinated. This also includes all school campuses.

According to KATC

Edwards said he is temporarily reinstating the mask mandate for unvaccinated and vaccinated people. Mask wearing will be when indoors. The mandate will go into effect on Wednesday August 4, 2021.

Shreveport's Smoke-Free Casinos and Bars

Also making some rubbles in Shreveport is the new Smoke -free laws that went into effect this past Sunday, August 1. There is now a ban on smoking in the casinos and bars in Shreveport. Earlier this month the Shreveport city council was looking at an exemption for casinos and bars but ultimately they voted against the exemption.
According to KTBS:

There are 29 cities and municipalities in Louisiana that have already enacted comprehensive smoke-free policies including New Orleans, Baton Rouge and Lafayette, three of the state’s largest and most visited cities.

How do you feel about the mask mandate? How about the ban on smoking in casinos? Will either of these make you think twice about visiting Shreveport?
