The Garland County Sheriff's Office in Hot Springs has released information on a submerged vehicle with skeletal remains inside on Lake Hamilton in Hot Springs, Arkansas.

The sunken car was found by a local fisherman who was fishing near Lakeland Drive on February 22, he was using his fishing graph when he noticed the vehicle according to KATV, After the Sheriff's Office Marine Patrol along with the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission arrived at the scene it was confirmed on February 28.  A dive team and sheriff's officials went back to the location on March 3, and that's when the human remains were discovered.

After a lengthy investigation by several law enforcement agencies and organizations the Hot Springs Fire Department was called in to help recover the vehicle on March 3, but because of water conditions, they could not proceed until March 4, when they were able to use lifting bags to get the vehicle out of its watery grave and onto a nearby boat ramp.

The remains were sent to a crime lab for identification and results are still pending at this time. The vehicle was a 2003 Ford Escape with no license plate but officials were able to use the VIN number in the state's database and the vehicle was connected to a missing person report filed in 2008 with the Hot Springs Police Department.
