Southern Arkansas University Announces Community Education Courses
Community Education Classes are scheduled for Spring 2018 at Southern Arkansas University.

Maximizing and Protecting Your Wealth Series
Would you like to know how your money actually works? During these simple philosophies behind the elements of protection, savings and growth will be discussed along with simple methods to help you achieve your maximum financial potential as opposed to dealing with short term goals or products. Each session concentrates on one area of your financial world within the accumulation and/or distribution phase, illustrating the reality of how money actually works specific to earning, taxes, family and lifestyle environments. Financial complexities will be simplified enabling you to own more of your financial journey, position you to maximize and protect your wealth, instill financial clarity and allow more confidence in your financial decisions. Class size is limited to 24 students.

Scuba Diving for Beginners
Obtain the knowledge and skills required to become a P.A.D.I certified instructor. The Professional Association of Diving Instructors is the largest and most prestigious training program in the nation. The course consists of classroom, pool sessions, and open water checkouts (Lake DeGray). Minimum age is 10. Class is limited to 6 students.

Scuba Diving Refresher Course
Divers can refresh their skills that build confidence and proficiency under the supervision of a P.A.D.I. professional. Class size is limited.

Enjoy the benefits of a low-impact workout while socializing with friends. Yoga Fusion
Traditional postures for stress relief and restoration mixed with power flow and core. This SAU-exclusive class will provide a fun blend of yoga that’s a low impact workout combined with strength and stretching. Whether you need to work off tension, increase your strength, or simply relax, this class is perfect for you. Class is suitable for all experience levels.

Winter Youth Studio Art Workshop
Youth will experience an hour of hands on art! Kindergarten – 7th graders will be actively involved with an art theme incorporating drawing, painting, and 3D art, which will include a Master Artist discussion.

Cookies With Amanda – Valentine’s Day Theme
Amanda Blanchard, owner of Cookie Doughmain, will explain basic cookie decorating tools, bags, and give her expert tips. She will demonstrate how to properly outline, flood, and decorate cookies and you will put those tips to practice on Valentine’s themed cookies in this hands-on class! Fee includes 1 dozen cookies. Class size is limited to 12.

Introduction to Bees and Beekeeping
This class will focus on the principles of beekeeping. Those principles include: the history of beekeeping, honeybee biology, plant and pollinator relationships, and essential equipment and requirements. By the end of the first course, individuals will be able to start a hive and help experienced beekeepers with their colonies. Class will be taught by an experienced instructor with the Midwest Master Beekeeper Program.

Spring Lego Day
Does your child enjoy building cars, trucks, landmarks or creating something of their own with Lego? If your answer is yes, this class is for you. Participants will receive tips for building Lego kits, learn Lego trivia, and earn chances to win Lego prizes. They will build and keep their own Lego kit with Lego Minifigures. Participants will also be exposed to the basic steps in making a Lego movie using licensed Lego software. Parents are encouraged to participate; this is a family friendly event. Class size is limited to 15.
