CHRISTUS St. Michael Health System is joining with Carter BloodCare to meet the needs of local patients and donors with upcoming blood drives scheduled for Aug. 2.
This Memorial Day weekend be sure to take some time to remember those that fought for our freedom and in do so they made the ultimate sacrifice. Here is a way to can honor our fallen soldiers and save a life. Donating blood helps others and can save lives.
Now with COVID hospitalizations up in our area it's a great time to remind you that blood donations are desperately needed. LifeShare Blood Center is giving some great incentives to make a blood donation.
Did you know that when you donate blood that one donation can help up to 3 people? When you donate you could be saving the life of someone who has been in a serious accident, someone who needs surgery because of heart problems, cancer patients and even babies and pregnant women. Being able to help like that, why wouldn't you? Be sure to stop by any of the LifeShare Blood Drives going on this month
The emergency need for blood continues across the region as LifeShare Blood Center remains unable to support the need of local hospitals this includes Texarkana.
If you can donate blood then now is the time to step up to the plate. With the potential of bad weather from Hurricane Laura, several LifeShare Centers to the south of us have closed. That means we and our neighbors to the south of us could have a critically low blood supply.
LifeShare Blood Services here in Texarkana is in need of blood donations of all types due to the current shortage we are experiencing. Below are several locations of blood drives going on this week, if you can help out at any of these locations please do. If these times and locations don't work for you please make an appointment by calling LifeShare 903-794-3173 or stop by 4020 Summerhill Rd, Texa
It may be a new month but the fact is there is still a need for blood donors. As the hospitals get back to doing elective surgeries the need for blood increases. Also be sure to take advantage of getting a free COVID-19 Antibody Test when you donate through Sunday, June 14.
Do you think you might have had Covid-19? Would you like to be tested to see if you did, in fact, have it? LifeShare Blood Center will temporarily be adding testing for SARS-CoV-2 antibodies to the panel of testing for all volunteer blood donors. The testing will begin today, Monday, June 1 and end on Sunday, June 14. The test can indicate whether someone has been exposed to COVID-19.
Did you know that high schools in our area compete for scholarship money from LifeShare Blood Center by holding blood drives? With schools closed the high schools that in the past have hosted blood drives now need to rely on the community to find another place to host the drives.
