UofA Hope-Texarkana

Hannah Kincheloe of Waldo, a student at the University of Arkansas Hope-Texarkana, has been named a 2017 Coca-Cola New Century Scholar. Only one student per state is chosen for this prestigious award, by achieving the state’s highest score in the All-USA Community College Academic Team competition.

The University of Arkansas Hope-Texarkana is currently accepting nominations for the 2017 Outstanding Alumnus or Alumna.  Nominations may be submitted by faculty, staff, and community members.  Nominations will be accepted through April 20, 2017.

The University of Arkansas Hope-Texarkana Foundation according to a press release hosted the 11th Annual Beads, Bags and Bangles Kids’ College Fundraiser on Thursday, February 23, at the Hope Municipal Airport.

Dennis and Linda Ramsey, of Hope, Arkansas, recently donated $10,000 to establish the James Edward and Lillian Earline Berry Endowed Scholarship at the University of Arkansas Hope-Texarkana.  The endowment was set up to honor the memory of the parents of Linda Ramsey and will provide financial assistance to a student pursuing a degree or certificate from UAHT.

The University of Arkansas Hope-Texarkana (UAHT) has added a new Associate of Arts degree in Social Work.  The program is designed as a 2+2 partnership program with the University of Arkansas at Little Rock (UALR) in Texarkana.

The University of Arkansas Hope-Texarkana welcomed 1,421 students this semester.  This number represents a 6.3% increase over the previous year and the third highest spring enrollment in the history of the institution.  Enrollment at the UofA Texarkana campus increased by 45.8% over last year.

AEP-SWEPCO presented a $4,500 donation to the University of Arkansas Hope-Texarkana Foundation on February 1.  The donation is used to provide annual AEP-SWEPCO nontraditional scholarships and to support the annual “Pulling” for Education Trap Shoot, Watermelon Festival Concert, and BBB Kids’ College fundraiser.

Carissa Dierksen, Senior Online Marketing Consultant from Townsquare Media-Texarkana, spoke to the Introduction to Marketing class students at the University of Arkansas Hope-Texarkana yesterday.

The University Of Arkansas Hope-Texarkana Division Of Community Education will host an Introduction to Excel class beginning Tuesday, February 21, 2017, on the Hope campus.  The four-week course will be held each Tuesday night from 5:30PM to 7:30PM ending Tuesday, March 14, 2017.  The cost for the course is $75 per person.

Each year the faculty and staff at the University of Arkansas Hope-Texarkana are given the opportunity to support the college and students by giving to the Bridge Builders fund through payroll deductions or one-time gifts.

Kim Williams of Saratoga, Arkansas, was presented with the 2016 ARNEC Class Florence Nightingale Award Monday, December 1, 2016.

Since its inception in August 2015, the University of Arkansas at Hope-Texarkana book rental program has saved students a total of $300,414.  This represents average savings per student of $154.77.  The program, created to help alleviate the high cost of college textbooks for UAHT students, is a success.
