The Texas Department of Transportation has announced that Dana C. Moore, P.E. has been appointed as the new area engineer in Texarkana.

In her new role, Moore will oversee the maintenance and construction operations across Bowie and Cass counties. She will be helping ensure local roadways remain safe and reliable. She officially stepped into the position on January 21, 2026.

Bringing Experience and Leadership to TxDOT

Moore brings more than two decades of experience with TxDOT to her new position. She has served as the assistant area engineer in Texarkana since 2021, where she oversaw construction operations on 39 projects totaling more than $330 million.

Her career with TxDOT began in 2001 after graduating from Texas A&M University in College Station with a Bachelor of Science in Construction Science. Moore earned her professional engineering license back in 2010, which led her to he leadership position within the department.

Deep Local Roots in the Texarkana Area

Moore grew up in Hooks, Texas, and is married to her high school sweetheart, James, for 24 years. They have two sons, and she remains active in the community, volunteering with American Heritage Girls, Trail Life USA, Conifer Area Properties, Hooks FFA, and Bowie County 4-H.

Moore said in a press release,

I’m excited to serve the state of Texas in this position, where I will work closely with the men and women that build and maintain our infrastructure. This work is so essential to providing Texans — and those visiting Texas — with the best roads possible to reach their destinations.

Moore replaces Tommy Bruce, who was recently named the district’s director of transportation, planning and development.
