Be on the lookout for the Texarkana Arkansas Fire Department participating in the "Fill the Boot" fundraiser over the next three Friday's from 4:30PM to 7:30PM at various intersections around town. The event begins this Friday, March 31 and benefits the Muscular Dystrophy Association.

This a time honored tradition of firefighters hitting the streets and collecting donations that will help fund research to rid the world of muscle debilitating diseases.  Arkansas-side firefighters will be collecting donations near the intersections of Jefferson at Arkansas Boulevard, E 9th Street at I-49, and 3rd Street at Walnut.

"This MDA fundraiser has been something that the fire department has supported for years and we feel its a worthwhile cause and look forward to raising money every year," said Stephen Johnson, Fire Marshall with the Texarkana Arkansas Fire Department." Our goal this year is to collect $4000.

Johnson said, there will be a different crew at each location and each crew member will be wearing a MDA shirt for identification. Please stop by and help the firefighters fill their boots with whatever cash or loose change you might have.
