Texarkana Assualt Victim’s Severed Hand Still Missing – One Arrested
The Texarkana Texas Police Department is actively investigating a violent assault that occurred early Wednesday morning in the 500 block of Waterman Street.
According to the police statement, at approximately 4:22 AM, officers responded to a stabbing report in the 500 block of Lumpkin Street. Upon arrival, they discovered a 44-year-old man on the front porch of a home, suffering from multiple lacerations and a severed left hand. Officers quickly applied a tourniquet to control the bleeding before the victim was transported by LifeNet EMS to Christus St. Michael Hospital for emergency care.
Residents at the Lumpkin Street home said they were awakened by loud banging at their front door and found the injured man pleading for help. They immediately called 911.
Officers followed a trail of blood from that location to a residence on Waterman Street. After receiving no response at the door, they obtained a search warrant and entered the home. Inside, they found two adult males and evidence confirming that the assault had taken place there. Both individuals were taken to the police department for questioning.
Following the investigation, 19-year-old Deroyce Brown was arrested and charged with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon. The second man was determined not to have been involved in the incident.
The victim’s severed hand has not yet been recovered, and the investigation is ongoing.
