LifeShare Offers $25 Gift Cards for Type O Blood Donors in Texarkana

LifeShare Blood Center - Texarkana is calling on Type O blood donors to step up this summer as supplies reach critically low levels. Donations typically drop about 20% during the summer months, and right now, the need for Type O is especially urgent.

Why Type O Blood Is Critical

O-Positive blood is the most common type, found in nearly 40% of people, and is used for more than 80% of patients with positive blood types. O-Negative, known as the universal donor, can be given to anyone in an emergency. Both are essential for hospitals, trauma cases, and newborns.

“Every time a Type O donor gives, they’re providing hope for patients who may not have another option,” said Mandi Johnson, Director of Community Engagement at LifeShare.

Special $25 Gift for Donors

To encourage donations, LifeShare is offering a special thank-you gift. From August 19 through September 9, 2025, Type O donors who give blood or red cells at a LifeShare center or mobile blood drive will receive a $25 eGift card to a retailer of their choice. Gift cards will be emailed within one week of a successful donation.

How to Donate

This promotion is open to eligible Type O donors ages 18 and older at LifeShare locations across Louisiana, East Texas, and South Arkansas. Appointments are encouraged but not required.
