The City of Texarkana, Texas, has been notified by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality to issue a boil water notice for a portion of Texarkana.

Alert: Boil Water Notice Issued July 30

The problem stems from a water main break, causing low water pressure. The locations affected are on Summerhill Road from Kennedy Lane to I-30. People living in this area are advised to boil their water before consumption, including brushing their teeth, washing their hands, and face.

Guidelines to Stay Safe During a Boil Water Notice

Children, seniors, and people with weakened immune systems are particularly vulnerable to harmful bacteria; all customers should follow the necessary precautions to remain safe from harmful bacteria and other microbes. The water should be brought to a vigorous rolling boil and then boiled for two minutes for safety measures. Store-bought bottled water is an alternative if you choose until the boil water notice is lifted.

Once the boil water notice is no longer in effect, the public water system will issue a notice to customers rescinding the boil water notice.
