A couple of days ago we found out that Mike Malone was retiring from his position as President and CEO of the Texarkana USA Regional Chamber of Commerce. The Chamber has just announced the Interim President.

The Texarkana Chamber met on Tuesday evening May 17 and held a special meeting to vote for an interim president and CEO of the Chamber. In a unanimous vote, they have named Denis Washington as the interim to lead the Chamber.  Washington is originally from Vicksburg, MS, but has lived in Texarkana since 1986.

Washington had a 34-year career in banking and retired from Regions Bank in December of 2020.

He is very active and plugged into our area. He is on the boards of TexAmericas Center, The Texarkana Symphony Orchestra, The Texarkana Public Facilities Corporation, ARTEX Regional Development Corporation and JCM Industries Advisory Board.

Jennifer Harland the 2021 Chamber board chair stated in a press release;

“Denis will be a great leader for our organization during this time of transition. He has the knowledge and skill to direct the staff and board while we work to find the next president of the Chamber.”
