New Comic From Dark Horse Features Texarkana In The Story
Some call them "Comic Books", some refer to them as "Graphic Novels", but however you choose to describe your favorite reading material isn't nearly as important as what it is, and how big a stack of them you have in your room(s). If you live in the Texarkana area, there's a new one that just came out today, 7/23/25, from Dark Horse Comics, that just might strike a comic chord in you.
If you enjoy supernatural adventures and you are from, or once lived in the Ark-La-Tex, you should check out part 1 of this 4-part series titled, "TexArcanum".
Texar-what?
I'll be the first to admit that I had to look that up. So, much thanks to Merriam-Webster, which describes "Arcanum" as:
mysterious or specialized knowledge, language, or information accessible or possessed only by the initiate —usually used in plural
If you go to DarkHorse.com, you can get more detailed information about the storyline, but let's just say this four-part series follows the supernatural adventures of cowboy arcanist Avery Belle in the Texarkana area. That's enough for me!
It's Been A Minute...
I'm no stranger to the darker side of comics. Instead of superheroes, I grew up reading DC World War II comics like Sgt Rock and GI Combat. Pretty heady stuff for a pre-teen.
My wife and I are ordering this series to check it out ourselves. Hopefully, I won't have to look up any more words to understand it. Maybe I'll just ask my wife. She's kinda freaky, and one of her majors was English. Happy reading!
