If you’ve ever driven through Texarkana and thought, “Somebody really ought to pick that up,” that "somebody", could be you.

Keep Texarkana Beautiful (KTB) will hold its annual Fall Sweep on Saturday, September 26, bringing volunteers (just like you) together to tackle litter, clean up neighborhoods, and spruce up community gardens around T-town.

The cleanup runs from 8 AM to noon, with volunteers working at five different locations throughout Texarkana.

Five Texarkana Areas Getting a Fall Cleanup

The City of Texarkana, Texas, will assist with projects in Beverly, Rosehill, New Town, Liberty-Eylau, and the Downtown Activated Alley. Roll-off containers will be available at each site for residents who want to bring bulk trash and other unwanted items from their neighborhoods.

Volunteers should meet at one of these locations for instructions and supplies:

  • Downtown Activated Alley: Regional Museum, 219 N. Stateline Ave.
  • New Town: Bell Park, 3208 Lincoln Ave.
  • Beverly: Community Center, 901 Lumpkin St.
  • Rosehill: Community Center, 1303 Milam St.
  • Liberty-Eylau: Findley Park, 410 Findley St.

KTB and city staff will provide gloves, trash bags, safety vests, and grabbers. Volunteers are encouraged to dress for the weather, use sun protection, and bring plenty of water. The weather "might" be cooling off a bit by then, but, you know... probably not.

A Chance to Make a Difference Close to Home

There are a few restrictions on what can go into the roll-off containers:

  • Batteries
  • tires
  • paint
  • large appliances (refrigerators, washing machines, etc.)
