They said it would take about a year to complete this phase of construction on I-30 and it looks like they hit that target pretty close. After nearly a year of construction detours, eastbound traffic on Interstate 30 in Texarkana will soon return to the main lanes near State Line Avenue.

According to the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT), the shift back to the main lanes will take place tonight, Monday, April 28. Starting at 8 PM, eastbound traffic will be reduced to one lane while crews move vehicles off the frontage road and back onto the newly reconstructed interstate. The work is expected to be completed by about 6 AM Tuesday morning, with both main lanes open to drivers afterward.

Since last June, eastbound traffic between Summerhill Road and State Line Avenue had been detoured onto the frontage road to allow crews to replace the interstate bridge over the railroad. The bridge replacement is part of a larger project to widen I-30 from four to six lanes.
