Texarkana: More I-30 Ramp Changes Near University To Watch For
Heads-up Texarkana, more changes are coming to motorists traveling west on Interstate 30 today, Friday, February 27, as construction continues on the I-30 widening project.
The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) says contractors will begin adjusting ramps on Friday, after 9 AM. During the first few hours of the transition, drivers who need local access are encouraged to use Exit 222 at Summerhill Road.
The scheduled changes include:
- Reopening Exit to Kings Hwy
Reopening westbound Exit 218 to Farm to Market Road 2878/Pleasant Grove Road and FM 989/Kings Highway.
- Closing westbound Exit 219 to University Avenue
The I-30 Westbound exit to University Ave will be closed today (Friday). If you need to access University Blvd, please use Exit 222, just past State Line and before Summerhill Rd.
Traffic Flow Reminder from TxDOT
TxDOT reminds everyone that the I-30 frontage road system allows continuous travel without stopping at traffic signals. Drivers can travel eastbound from FM 989/Kings Highway to U.S. Highway 71/State Line Avenue and westbound from U.S. Highway 71/State Line Avenue to FM 989/Kings Highway without encountering a red light.
