In these calls, the scammer demands immediate payment, often in the form of money transfers or gift cards. Police remind you that no legitimate law enforcement agency will ever request payment or personal financial information over the phone.

The Texarkana Texas Police also said that if you do get one of these call from 'Sgt McAnally' feel free to hang up the phone and carry on with your day.

Tips to Avoid Being a Victim of a Scam

Please remember, to never provide personal information, payment details, or gift card numbers to unsolicited callers.

You should verify the caller’s identity by contacting the organization directly through their listed phone numbers not a phone number that the caller has given you.

Always Remember: if it sounds suspicious, it probably is. These scammers feed on your fear and hope that you will be rushed into making a bad decision that will benefit them.
