Texarkana Officer Arrested For Alleged Sexual Assault Of Minor

The Texarkana, Texas Police Department is reporting that a police officer who has been employed since 2018 has been arrested for sexual assault of a child.

32-year-old Zackary Gilley has been placed on administrative leave just prior to his arrest at the police department on Monday night.

An internal and criminal investigation is now underway by the TTPD after the allegations involved a 15-year-old girl. After evaluating the evidence obtained by investigators and facts gathered from an external forensic expert, the Bowie County District Attorney's Office was consulted. A probable cause affidavit was prepared and presented to a District Judge with a request that arrest warrants be issued.

Law enforcement officials with the Texarkana, Texas Police Department called Gilley to come into the police department, where he was arrested for two counts of sexual assault of a child and one count each of indecency with a child by contact and indecency with a child by exposure. He has been booked into the Bi-State Jail with a Bond set at $600,000 this morning.

"When one of our own is alleged to have violated the law, it is deeply troubling and disheartening," said Chief Schutte.
