The Texarkana Twins are proud to announce that they will be adding two more outstanding players to their roster for the 2019 season. The Twins’ newest additions, Taylor Smith and Lee Thomas are both Texas natives and are currently playing for the University of the Incarnate Word in San Antonio, now awaiting their debut in the Texas Collegiate League here in Texarkana.

Taylor Smith, UIW’s freshman catcher/pitcher grew up in Georgetown, Texas and graduated this past academic year from Gateway College Preparatory High School. Taylor really hit his stride during his senior year by establishing himself among the top statistical leaders at the end of the regular season in the Austin-Area for RBI’s (31, 2nd), home-runs (6, 2nd) and ERA (0.00 - minimum of 18 innings, 1st). Smith truly made the most out of his high school baseball career ending his senior season by being selected to compete in the THSBCA All-Star game along with earning All-State honors from the Texas High School Baseball Coaches Association.

Lee Thomas, junior 1st baseman for the UIW Cardinals will be another key component to the Texarkana roster. Thomas’ hometown is Katy, Texas where he graduated from Cinco Ranch High School back in 2016. Thomas’ consistent contribution to the Cardinals has been imperative to their success, starting in 43 games in his sophomore season finishing with 43 hits, 36 RBI’s while touching home plate 26 times. On top of that, he had a slugging percentage of .417 in which he produced 11 doubles, a triple and 3 home-runs.

According to the Press Release, Smith and Thomas will soon be on their way to Texarkana along with their remarkable skills and credentials that will undoubtedly translate well within the Twins’ roster. Smith’s untapped potential and Thomas’ reliability and consistency have the Texarkana staff at a high level of eagerness and excitement as they approach closer and closer to the start of the 2019 season.
