Of course, the weather is unpredictable, but it's always a good thing to be prepared. Especially when it comes to freezing rain and sleet. North of Texarkana and most of the state of Arkansas is expected to see a good chance of snow. The northern portions of Texas and Louisiana will experience the wintry mix, too.

Why be prepared? Icy conditions can cause total havoc. Does anyone remember the winter ice storm in 2000 in Texarkana? The roads were fine, but the power lines were iced over and power was out everywhere!

Friday - 70% Rain showers likely before noon, then rain showers and sleet possible. High near 42.
Friday Night - 90% Freezing rain and sleet. The sleet could be heavy at times. Low around 16.
Saturday - 100% Snow showers, freezing rain, and sleet. The sleet could be heavy at times. High near 20.
Saturday Night - 70% Snow showers, freezing rain, and sleet, Low around 14
Sunday - 30% chance of snow showers and freezing rain before noon. High near 25.
How to Prepare for Icy Conditions and Possible Power Outages
First, make sure your water pipes and outside faucets are protected.
Make sure you have plenty of water stored. Bottled water for drinking and cooking, and buckets of water for cleaning.
Candles and flashlights with fresh batteries.
Have an alternate source for heat, whether it's a gas heater, a generator, or wood burning fireplace.
Make sure your pets are safe and warm. Cover delicate plants and please check on your neighbors! Especially the elderly.
