Do you like your country mixed with a little red dirt? Then you're going to love Cody Jinks performing in concert at Shooters this Saturday, March 14.Jinks is a native singer/songwriter from Fort Worth. With his band the Tone Deaf Hippies, he has been playing the bars and honky-tonks since he was old enough to drink. As a matter of fact, Jinks says, "bring us the hippies and the cowboys, and we will flick our bics through those swinging doors."

First impression you get when you see Jinks is that of a young Waylon Jennings with a full beard and long hair -- very reminiscent of those Waylon & Willie outlaw days. Maybe that's because he used to be the lead singer for a heavy metal band 'Aggression,' according to a story from Fort Worth Weekly. After his stint with the band 'Aggression' Jinks decided to return back to his musical country music roots, saying “I grew up with country music, with some rock ’n’ roll mixed in, and I came back to it.”

With a rich, raspy baritone in his vocals, Jinks started hitting the bar rooms and club scenes once again with his own brand of country music. His 2008 albums, 'Cast No Stones' and in 2010 'Less Wise' and 'CD Baby' are available at iTunes and Amazon.com.

His newest digital album is 'Adobe Sessions' and is available at his website. The album features songs like 'Mama Song,' and 'Cast No Stones,' which has a Waylon feel to it and a song called 'Rock and Roll,' which touches on his past musical career. It's hard to believe that Jinks was ever in a heavy metal band when listening to him sing. A pure country singer who makes you want to pull up a bar stool and have a beer or two.
