Texas Breaks Employment Records With 182K New Jobs

Texas continues to lead the nation in job growth, setting new records for total employment, workforce size, and the number of working Texans, according to the latest figures from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics and the Texas Workforce Commission.

Governor Greg Abbott highlighted the state's economic momentum, crediting pro-business policies and a skilled workforce for driving growth across industries.

"With more Texans working than ever before, the promise of the future is bright. We will build on our momentum, capitalize on new opportunities, and invest in our future for a stronger, more prosperous Texas than ever before,” said Abbott.

Key highlights from the February 2025 employment report:

• Record Labor Force: Texas now has its largest labor force ever, with 15,770,300 workers.
• More Texans Working: A record 15,126,900 Texans are employed, including self-employed individuals.
• Job Growth Continues: The state added 20,100 nonfarm jobs in February, bringing the total to 14,254,200, another all-time high.
• Nation’s Leader: Texas added 182,300 nonfarm jobs over the past year, the most of any state.

Governor Abbott recently underscored Texas' business appeal at a Nasdaq luncheon in Dallas, where the global marketplace announced a new regional headquarters in the city. This follows recent announcements by the New York Stock Exchange and the upcoming Texas Stock Exchange (TXSE), further solidifying Texas as a major financial hub.

With a strong job market and continued investment, Texas remains a top destination for businesses and workers alike.
