Three Texas High School seniors in Texarkana, Texas, have been recognized for their outstanding academic performance as part of the 2026 National Merit® Scholarship Program.

Jackson Adams, Samuel Cross, and David Mayo each earned the distinction of Commended Student, placing them among the top 50,000 scorers in the nation on the 2024 PSAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test.

Texas High Leaders Honor Students’ Achievement

Texas High School Principal Ben Renner presented the students with official Letters of Commendation on behalf of the school and the National Merit Scholarship Corporation.

“These three students exemplify the dedication, leadership, and perseverance that define Texas High School,” Renner said. “Their hard work and determination reflect the strong academic environment supported by our teachers and staff.”

TISD Praises Academic Excellence

TISD Superintendent Dr. Doug Brubaker also praised the students, noting that their achievement showcases both personal effort and community support.

“Recognition from the National Merit Scholarship Program is a significant accomplishment,” he said. “We’re proud of their success and the encouragement they’ve received from their families and educators.”

National Merit Commendation Highlights Academic Promise

Each year, about 34,000 students across the country are named Commended Students for their exceptional academic promise. While these honorees do not advance in the competition for National Merit Scholarships, they are recognized for their outstanding potential for academic success.
