Three Bikes Donated From Arkansas Walmart for ‘Bicycle Safety Town’ At ‘Wild About Wellness’
The Texarkana Arkansas-side Walmart has donated 3 bicycles for us to use for the Bicycle Safety Town at this year's Wild About Wellness nest Saturday. The great news is that we will be giving those bikes away through a random drawing at the end of the event. More information about the Bicycle Safety Town, keep reading!
Wild About Wellness is coming up next Saturday, August 11 from 9 until noon at the Four States Fairgrounds, and this year it's bigger and better than ever. Be sure you get there early to take advantage of the Bicycle Safety Town sponsored by State Farm Insurance agents Kelli Ashbrook and Derrick McGary, with help from Irene Webster from TxDot Traffic Safety, and FREE bike helmets for the kids, while supplies last.
The bike helmets are provided by the Texas Medical Association’s program "Hard Hats for Little Heads," Dr. Cindy Porter and Town Square Media.
You will learn how to properly fit a safety helmet, wear it so that it keeps you safe.
The Texas Medical Association Foundation is able to fund TMA’s Hard Hats for Little Heads program in 2018 thanks to its Legacy of Caring Endowment and top donors including an anonymous physician and spouse, TMAF Make-A-Difference donors, and The Texas Academy of Family Physicians. Plus generous unrestricted gifts from TMA and TMA Alliance members, and friends of medicine.
The Hard Hats for Little Heads program promotes exercise and teaches children and their parents about the importance of wearing a helmet when bicycling, in-line skating, skateboarding, and when riding scooters. The Texas Pediatric Society, the Texas Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics (TPS) provided funding for this giveaway, which is sponsored by a TPS member. TPS’ support helps its members encourage health and safety in more communities across Texas through Hard Hats for Little Heads. Hard Hats for Little Heads is supported through a TMA Foundation grant thanks to its Legacy of Caring Endowment and top donors — an anonymous physician and spouse, TMAF Make-A-Difference donors, and the Texas Academy of Family Physicians. Plus generous unrestricted gifts from TMA and TMA Alliance members, and friends of medicine.
