
New Transportation Planning Director Named for TxDOT Atlanta
The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) recently announced that Tommy Bruce, P.E., has been appointed as the new Director of Transportation Planning and Development for the Atlanta District.

In his new role, Bruce will oversee district-wide project planning, advanced project development, and public involvement efforts. The TxDOT Atlanta District covers 9 counties in Texas: Bowie, Camp, Cass, Harrison, Marion, Morris, Panola, Titus, and Upshur counties.
Tommy Bruce, A Career Built at TxDOT
Bruce began his career with TxDOT in 2006 as an engineering assistant in the Texarkana Area Office after earning a Bachelor of Science degree in civil engineering from Louisiana Tech University.
He later joined the district maintenance office in 2013 and was named maintenance engineer in 2015. In 2019, Bruce became the Mount Pleasant area engineer and was appointed Texarkana area engineer in 2021.

Bruce and his wife, Heather, have two children, Kamryn, 14, and Elliott, 13. The family enjoys staying busy and supporting their children in their many activities.

Bruce will continue to serve as the Texarkana area engineer until that position is filled.
