The entrance ramp to I-30 westbound at Kings Hwy is making a change today around the lunch hour. If you're not planning for it, get ready for a little extra driving time.

The Switch Is Planned For Midday

The entrance ramp to get on I-30 from the feeder before FM 989/Kings Hwy has been closed for several months, that is, until today. The ramp on the east side of Kings Hwy will open today, and the ramp on the west side of the intersection at Kings Hwy will shut down as the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) continues the ongoing widening project on I-30.

Do You Read Those Message Boards?

Electronic message boards have been in place to alert drivers to the upcoming switch.

How To Navigate?

Enter I-30 from the University intersection to reach the westbound entrance, or head south on Kings Hwy and turn right on Hwy 82, head west, and use the Leary westbound I-30 entrance ramp.

Frontage Roads Allow Continuous Travel

TxDOT reminds motorists that the I-30 frontage road system allows continuous travel without stopping at traffic lights. Drivers can travel:

  • Eastbound from FM 989/Kings Highway to U.S. Highway 71/State Line Avenue
  • Westbound from U.S. Highway 71/State Line Avenue to FM 989/Kings Highway

Officials encourage drivers to stay alert, watch for signage, and plan extra time if needed.
