The University of Arkansas Hope-Texarkana James Black School of Bladesmithing and Historic Trades is proud to announce that one of their bladesmithing instructors has won a big competition. 

According to a press release, Ricardo Vilar, who is also a technical advisor at the school, recently took the top prize in the bladesmithing competition in this season's third episode of the show “Forged in Fire” on History Channel.

The show challenges world-class bladesmiths by testing their skills in re-creating some of history’s most iconic edged weapons. The of each episode’s contest earns $10,000 and the title of Forged in Fire champion. Vilar competed against three of the best bladesmiths in the world to earn the title of Forged in Fire Champion.
