UAHT: Your Path to a High-Paying Career in Truck Driving or Fiber Optics
If you are looking for a new career in a high-demand area with great pay, then The University of Arkansas Hope-Texarkana has you covered, and with financial help available.
Thanks to the Arkansas Workforce Challenge Scholarship and support from the Arkansas Office of Skills Development. Two fast-track programs are now more affordable than ever before, and in some cases, they can be free of charge. It's their Commercial Truck Driving and Fiber Optic Technicians
Commercial Truck Driving at UAHT
UAHT's CDL program is through the Arkansas Trucking Academy. This four-week course is a combination of driving simulators, actual road training and classroom lessons. The tuition is around $3,000, but the Workforce Challenge Scholarship will contribute up to $800. Once you graduate, you can earn between $50,000 to $70,000 a year and even higher pay for specialized routes.
Fiber Optic Technician at UAHT
This program is a 9-week program through the Arkansas Fiber Academy and backed by the Office of Skills Development grant. This program gives students the skills to install, troubleshoot problems and maintain fiber broadband networks. This training will lead to the Fiber Broadband Association OpTIC Path certification and offers great entry-level salaries of around $45,000 to $65,000. The Workforce Challenge Scholarship can provide up to $800.
Both of these programs give students hands-on training and fast, so you can be out in the workforce quickly.
You can check out the eligibility requirements for the Arkansas Workforce Challenge Scholarship online.
