Welcome Thor! The Newest Member of the Texarkana Texas Police Department
It's a good day for the Texarkana Texas Police Department as they announced the addition of a brand new member to the police department. Thor is a new K-9 and he is a handsome boy.
The TTPD made the announcement on its Facebook page. Thor is a full-blooded Dutch Sheppard and is thirteen months old.
What All is Thor Trained to do?
His partner officer Cole Bredenberg and Thor have only been together since June but Thor has been hard at work helping with arrests.
He is trained as a patrol dog, which means he can do tracking, article searches, drug detection, and apprehensions.
Does Thor Get to Play? Is He Very Friendly?
But that doesn't mean it's all work and no play. Thor loves to play ball and tug of war.
They also stated that Thor is friendly and enjoys being around people. (Unless of course you are a baddie that the police are looking for then he would probably be pretty good at helping police apprehend you...just sayin'.)
K-9 Dogs Are So Cool!
K-9 dogs are amazing animals and the training and care that go into them is amazing too. Have you ever seen a K-9 in action? I took the Citizen's Police Academy in town a few years back and in one of the classes, we had the opportunity to see how these dogs are used in searching for a missing person or a criminal.
Congratulations to Cole and Thor. We look forward to seeing you out in the community.
