Have you been hearing a lot of loud booms lately in Texarkana? The first time I heard it, I thought it was thunder because of the rumbling sound it made or a small quake perhaps. Well, it was none of that!

We've come to find out the Army is conducting Environmental clean-up activities via remediation contractors at the former Lone Star Army Ammunition Plant High Explosive Demolition Grounds.

According to a press release, Current events are concentrated on the demolition of past military munitions-related items. All required federal rules and regulations are being followed in properly disposing of these explosives.

"Depending on weather conditions, loud noise and vibrations may be felt in and around our local communities for the next several months," said, Army Officials.

Officials understand the concerns of the community and will endeavor to mitigate the impacts as they complete these explosive activities. Ongoing clean-up actions may result in multiple detonations in one day. When demolition operations are needed, they will commence no earlier than 9AM and will conclude no later than 4:30PM.

So, the next time you hear that loud boom in Texarkana, now you know.
