Trick or Treat - Halloween Comet Coming
It's not every Halloween that we get a rare treat but this year we may get lucky and see a recently discovered comet known as the Halloween comet. Arkansans as well as the rest of the continental United States are about to get a real treat beginning this week and lasting until Halloween.
Comet C/2024S1 was just discovered toward the end of September according to a report from The New York Post. According to the Georgia Institute of Technology, the comet will be seen in broad daylight just before sunrise in the lower eastern sky this week.
First Glimpse of Halloween Comet
Stargazers should get their first glimpse as the comet passes around the Earth on October 24. Then, it will continue on its journey around the sun. By the time it blazes around our sun, we will most likely see it again in the western night sky on Halloween.
This comet has received a lot of attention for not breaking up as it gets closer to the sun, the comet was detected by (Atlas) Terrestrial-Impact-Last Alert System, according to NASA officials.
Forget looking for the Great Pumpkin rising out of the pumpkin patch or a witch flying across the moon on a broomstick. Look for the Halloween Comet soaring across the sky on October 31.
