A Texarkana woman has been arrested and charged with First Degree Murder following a deadly incident at an apartment complex on Washington Street.

According to the Texarkana, Arkansas Police Department, officers were called to Ozan Gardens Apartments, formerly known as Smith Keys Apartments, at 3302 Washington Street around 5:38 AM Sunday after a 911 caller reported a man lying face down outside one of the buildings. The caller said the man did not appear to be breathing and was cold to the touch.

When officers arrived, they located the man and realized that he was dead and appeared to have been dead for several hours. Officers also noticed injuries to his face and requested help from the department's Criminal Investigation Division.

During the investigation, the man was identified as 29-year-old Telem Fairchild. After the Miller County Coroner's Office arrived, investigators discovered a stab wound to Fairchild's torso.

Detectives later identified 38-year-old Kimberly Rankins as a suspect. According to investigators, Rankins and Fairchild had been in an argument that got physical at the apartment complex around 11 PM the night before.

Rankins was taken into custody and transported to the Miller County Jail, where she was booked on a charge of First Degree Murder.
