Last Thursday on the radio, I broke the news that the classic series "The Munsters' is being re-vamped and being brought back to prime-time TV. The new "Munsters" is already being put together for a pilot episode. Unlike the original this newer version promises to be more edgier and darker. No word on cast or release date. And it looks like another classic TV Cartoon is set to hit the big screen.

It seems like if we wait long enough, every single TV cartoon will eventually have a big screen version as well. We’ve seen everything from ‘The Flintstones’ to ‘Transformers,’ and now we’re getting another one: Woody Woodpecker.

Universal and Illumination Entertainment have made the announcement that they’re making a big screen version of the long-running cartoon about the mischievous  woodpecker with the annoying laugh. Illumination were the creators of ‘Despicable Me’ and ‘The Lorax.’

Woody Woodpecker, made it's first appearance in the 1940's, and it's certainly not a character that kids talk about today. The jury is still out on this one, to see if they can put a new spin on a old cartoon. I think some classics are better left alone. This one may be the one...just my opinion.

Check out this cartoon classic from YouTube.
