American Idol Cast Off Lands Record Deal? [VIDEO]

Have to admit there is some great talent on American Idol this year, probally some of the best I've ever seen since watching the show. But some fans are still scratching their heads on last week 's contestant Pia Toscano. I certainly thought she would would make it into the Top 5.  But here's the good news...

Within hours of being voted off of American Idol, Pia Toscano scored a record deal. The 22 year-old rising star was signed by Interscope Records. Interscope also knows that timing is everything and the company is reportedly rushing her into the studio to record an album ASAP.

Now, Nigel Lythgoe, the show's executive producer, says that despite the popular perception, the New York native was never as close to the title as many believed. Nigel says: "Number one, I know the results so I know she was never a frontrunner. But when I heard that she was going, I was pretty upset -- angry, you could say. But the more I've sort of thought about it, the more I've calmed down, I've realized that at the end of the day, this is going to happen every week now because the talent is so strong."

Still don't know what specific format she will be doing but I think it's safe she will become a pop artist since Interscope Records has artists like 50 cent, Keri Hilson, Eminen, Will.I.Am. and more. And I'm thinking since she got some musical coaching from Will.I.Am on the show that maybe he helped her get a deal.

The latest update from the website Popeater.com is that she may not have a deal inked just yet due to some American Idol guidelines. Whatever the case may be I wish her the best of luck and stay tuned because this could get very interesting.
