James Black’s Bowie Heritage Festival Is On – Rain or Shine

Prepare for an exciting festival coming up this spring! The 3rd Annual James Black's Bowie Heritage Festival is happening in April, promising a dazzling lineup of celebrities you won't want to miss.

Joining forces once more, the City of Washington, Arkansas, the University of Arkansas Hope-Texarkana Foundation, and Historic Washington State Park are your hosts once again for this fun and educational festival.

The festival honors James Black, the local bladesmith credited with crafting the first Bowie Knife for Jim Bowie in Washington, Arkansas.

The festival boasts an array of attractions including exhibits, workshops, period music, plus a knife show. Don't miss;

• Knife cutting competition hosted by Master Bladesmith Jerry Fisk, alongside former ‘Forged in Fire’ champion Ricardo Vilar from Nashville, Arkansas.
• Plus, Master Bladesmiths Lin Rhea and Jr Cook, will demonstrate their expertise. Knifemakers from nine states will also be on hand to display their craftsmanship.
• Bring your antique knives to the "knife roadshow" hosted by Mark Zalesky from KNIFE Magazine for expert insights.
• Children can enjoy the Kids’ Corner, delving into heritage crafts and receiving a free wooden replica Bowie knife (while supplies last).

The festival highlights the fascinating story of James Black and his iconic Bowie Knife, renowned for its strength, flexibility, and unique design with a black walnut handle adorned with silver studs. Learn about Jim Bowie's adventures, his weapon of choice at the Alamo, and its significance in Arkansas, Texas, and American history.

All of this and more, including a live auction, food trucks, and free admission!
