Are you ready for a blast from the past?

Nowadays when you want the Time or Temperature you just look down at your smartphone or smartwatch to get what you need. But did you know there was a point in time (no pun intended) that if you wanted the time and temp you picked up a landline rotary dial phone or a push dial phone and called a number to find out what the time and temperature was in the city you were living in?

Most of the messages were sponsored by a local bank and in Texarkana if I remember correctly it was State First National Bank. Before you were given the time and temp you had to listen to a short message from the bank. But dialing the phone was not the only way to get the time and temp, most of those banks had a message board in front of the building where the time and temperature would be displayed for you to see as you were driving by the bank.

Well, unfortunately, those days are gone but do you even remember the time and temperature phone number for Texarkana?
I can't believe that I still remember the number, it was 870-774-TIME (8463) and I also can't believe it actually still works, that has been the same number since the 1960s. I thought it was disconnected and not a working number. I thought if I called it I would get some unknown person who thought I was crazy but apparently the number still works.
Call it and see for yourself!
Besides Texarkana, there are approximately a total of 12 working Time and Temperature numbers in the state of Arkansas.

So, if you just want a little nostalgia for the past call the number and go back in time to more simpler times before iPhones and Androids.
