I know it's coming, someone is about to say "Okay Boomer", but I don't care, I like having live checkers, I hate using the self-checkout and wish more stores would reverse course on that. Well, according to recent reports, Walmart might be doing just that.

Maybe you have heard about the massive makeover that's coming to an Arkansas Walmart near you. Word is that Walmart is planning a huge $ 9-billion upgrade in how the stores look and feel, including merchandise displays and much more. Check out some of the images below. But what's more important to me is a possible change that would make me very happy, and that's cutting back on the self-checkout lanes and bringing back more actual checkers. Love that idea.

Recent reports say that Walmart, along with Costco and Five Below, have already begun to reduce self-checkout in many stores. Unfortunately, it has very little to do with my grumpy Boomer attitudes about live checkers, but rather these retailers are trying to minimize losses by theft.

Whatever the reason, I'm all for it. More live checkers, yes, where do we vote? Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying get rid of the self-checkout altogether, I've been known to use them occasionally, but I'm telling you right now, when they begin asking me to re-stock the shelves, I'm out!

It's all part of the new upgraded look coming to a Walmart near you in the future...

What matters most? I would think keeping Walmart prices low would be the most important thing during the economic times we're all facing right now. If the economy gets better, the sky's the limit.
