Thirteen members of the Texas Middle School Band earned placement in the Texas Music Educators Association Region 4 All-Region Band during auditions held on November 15 in Longview, Texas.

Overton Brooks VA Medical Center (OBVAMC) will host a Town Hall and outreach event on Thursday, December 10, 2015 from 5-6PM at the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4562, 4700 East 9th Street, Texarkana, Ark.

The Thanksgiving holiday is one of the busiest travel times of the year, and to help save lives on our roadways, Texarkana, Ark., patrol officers will be teaming with other state and local law enforcement officers across the country to crack down on seat belt violations.

The Texarkana USA Chamber of Commerce will hold a Business to Business breakfast  Friday, November 20, at the Holiday Inn, Texarkana, Ark., Convention Center located at 5200 Convention Plaza Drive.

This walk was rained out in October so it was rescheduled to this Sunday, Nov. 15 at 1PM. The third annual suicide prevention walk held in Texarkana in honor of Matthew Gaines as well as many others. There is no fee to participate. The purpose of the walk is to raise awareness and to help prevent suicide in the Texarkana area.

Townsquare Media would like to do whatever we can help our military families deployed this holiday season.  So now through Veterans Day, Wednesday, November 11th, we're running “Townsquare Cares for Military Families.” Townsquare Cares is a non-profit organization that wants to help our military families anytime of the year but especially at Thanksgiving and Christmas time...

This month, "Teacher Take Wing," a project of the Junior League of Texarkana, was awarded 27 grants, totaling $12,000 to area educators in seven school districts.

Texarkana Animal League is hosting its ninth annual Unleashed Party to distribute the 2016 day planners as well as raise funds for their many programs to help our local homeless animals. A fun evening of silent auctions and entertainment are in store for all who attend on Thursday, Oct. 29.

This week's featured pet is an adult shepherd mix from the shelter. He is already neutered, which means the adoption fee is less than $60. Sarge is good on a leash and loves affection. He is a great guard dog and no one will arrive at your home without him letting you know that you have company. His bark is scary but he is a sweetheart.

Because rain and stormy weather are expected this weekend, Oktoberfest has been rescheduled. The event is now set for 10AM on Saturday, November 14, at Front Street Plaza in downtown Texarkana.

The Taste of Texarkana is tonight, October 20, at the Four States Entertainment Center. Enjoy dining from 5-8PM with local restaurants, breweries and wineries all under one roof and all for a great cause.

Three dogs at the animal shelter will soon be taking a trip out of the wrong door if they are not adopted or moved into foster homes quickly. Spike, Candy and Dotty deserve a chance to have a life beyond the confinement of the animal shelter. Please share their video and photos to help find great homes for each of these sweet dogs.
