Did you know the State of Arkansas has some very interesting haunts and paranormal phenomena? With Halloween lurking around the corner, it's only appropriate to tell you about the story of the Crossett Light. Many folks in this area already know about the Gurdon Light, but I'm here to share some scary facts about Crossett, Ark.

Similar to the Gurdon story,  a railroad worker --  a brakeman to be exact -- met his untimely fate in the early 1900s when he was beheaded near the tracks where he worked. Today, people have reported seeing a ball of light that seems to sway back and forth a few feet from the track where he was killed. The story goes that the brakeman is looking for his severed head! Or, could it be his wife carrying a lantern looking for him?

The most bizarre thing about the light, according to several sources, is you can never catch up to it because it seems to disappear into thin air the closer you get. They say it will travel through your car, making the vehicle difficult to start. While some view this as a scary ghost, others look at it as entertaining and fun.

Crossett is located in southeastern Arkansas just nine miles above the state's border with Louisiana. It's located about a two-and-a-half hours from Texarkana on Highway 82, just past El Dorado.
