It's almost time for the 47th Annual Hope Watermelon Festival. This year is going to be big! It's going to be a Seed Spitting Good Time. 

The festival runs from Thursday, August 10 to Saturday night August 12. Opening on Thursday at noon with great events throughout the day then in the evening it's the Watermelon Contest Weigh-in, The Jr. Watermelon Olympics, The Watermelon Olympics and the Watermelon Fest Dog Show. Plus live music by the Rafter J Living Proof Band.

The festival opens at 9 AM Friday with events throughout the day. Then in the evening don't miss the Watermelon Idol Preliminaries at 5 PM, a Cornhole Tournament plus the Watermelon Festival Softball Tournament

Saturday starts early with a Watermelon 5k at 7:30 AM Civitan Car Show starting at 8 AM, the Watermelon Eating Contest at noon and the Seed Spitting Competition at 1:30 PM plus more events throughout the day. You can find a schedule of events for the entire festival here.

Then it's time to get ready for a great night of great music as The Marshall Tucker Band takes the stage Saturday night at 8:30 PM. Nighthawk will be kicking off the evening of music at 5 PM.

The Marshall Tucker Band hit the music scene in 1972 with so many great songs and more the 20 studio albums. Great songs like "Can't You See," "Heard it in a Love Song," "Fire on the Mountain," "Long Hard Ride," "Ramblin'," and so more.

General admission tickets will be $20 for adults; day-of-show tickets will be $25. Children's tickets will be $10 on the day of the show.
