Hospice of Texarkana’s is celebrating 17 years with “Good Grief Day” for kids to be held Saturday, June 16, 2017 from 10 - 2PM at Richmond Road Baptist Church, 5805 Richmond Road.

The free four-hour event is open to kids ages 7-15 who have lost a loved one to death, divorce, a parent serving in the military, a parent being incarcerated, or moving to a new school. There are 3 hours of scheduled activities, along with lunch provided by Chick-Fil-A from Central Mall.  Kids will be taught how to express grief in a healthy way through Pet Therapy by interacting with Maggie Grace a therapy dog and Cosmo the an owl. In addition, kids will enjoy the spider web, creating a memory and a balloon release to end the day.

I've been invited to come and talk with the children and play a few games and I very much look forward to this special event.

Good Grief Day continues to be offered at no cost to participants because of sponsorships from community members such as East Funeral Home, Chick-Fil-A at Central Mall. Kiwanis Club of Texarkana and Toby’s Tales by Lori Anderson.

The annual, supportive event is hosted by Hospice of Texarkana’s Social Work Department. Two, licensed, medical social workers and our chaplain will facilitate the activities. Trained Hospice of Texarkana volunteers and other staff will assist them.

Please call Kelli at 903-794-4263 to reserve a spot for your child today.
