Vice President Joe Biden in North Texas for some Private Democratic Fundraising events. One was reportedly held in the DeKalb area of Bowie County and the other two in the Fort Worth Area.
Despite the fact that Texas is a solidly so-called Red State in the Republican Column, Democrats still do a lot of fundraising in the Lone Star State.
A fight over the redrawing of Texas Political Maps is returning to Washington for closing arguments. At issue is whether the maps drawn by the GOP-dominated Texas Legistlature violated the Federal Votings Right Act. A three judge panel has listened to two weeks of testimony. Closing arguments were today.
The Arkansas Forestry Commission is endorsing a legistlative panel’s proposal to restore 20 firefighting jobs to the agaency even though the recommendation does not call for a way to fund them. The commission on Monday supported a recommendation made by a budget subcommittee formed to look at the agency’s finances.
In Sports: The Texas Rangers have given a contract extension to Manager Ron Washington . He is now signed through 2014.
