Eight Texas Middle School 6th Grade students at T.I.S.D. have qualified to attend the Texas Math and Science Coaches Association state competition.

According to a press release from the district, the competition will be held in San Antonio on April 22.  Students had to meet minimum qualifying scores in Number Sense, Calculator, General Math and Science during qualifying rounds that were held in February and March.

Moving forward at the state level are:  John Thomas Borowitz, Mason Franklin, Joe Haynes-Stewart, Said Hernandez, Olivia Huckabee, Braden McKinnon, Lawton Nichols and Alyssa Smith.

Formed in 1981, TMSCA is an organization formed by Texas math and science teachers to promote excellence in math and science through competition.

Congratulations to these students on their outstanding work in both Math and Science and good luck in the state competition.
